1.YOU SHOULD NOT THINK ONLY ‘ONE THING’
One time, I was pulling weeds from a bean field with my mother. It was so hard for me to be working with my back hunched over. So, I saw down comfortably as I pulled weeds from the field. When I did that, the field was crushed and the bean stalks broke. On seeing that, my mother rebuked me saying, “While weeding the field you might ruin the entire year’s crop by crushing the bean field. You should go and pull the weeds from the edge of the field. Why do you do this thinking of only one thing?” I was sad when I saw the broken bean stalks.
One day I saw someone appear on TV and deliver a lecture. He said that he was going to light a dynamite, drop it in the water when a school of fish came by, and catch the school of fish when the dynamite exploded. However, at that moment, he waited a little longer thinking of only ‘one thing, a few more large fish to come.’ However, the dynamite blew up in his hand at that instant and he lost his sight. He gave the lecture telling everyone to be careful. He suffered harm while thinking of only ‘one thing, to catch more fish.’
Everything you do in life is like this. You should not think only ‘one thing,’ but clearly calculate to see if ‘other problems’ will occur as a result of that one thing. If you find nothing wrong after you’ve checked, then you should take action at that time. Doing it that way is faster, you will have satisfaction once you have done the work, and you will gain as a result of that. A person who speaks and takes action while thinking of only one thing is a ‘physical person,’ an ‘earthly person,’ and a ‘person with low intelligence.‘
A person who speaks and takes action while thinking about two things is a ‘spiritual person,’ a ‘metaphysical person,’ and a ‘person with high intelligence and high brain level.’
2. DO NOT BE AFRAID OF RAINSTORMS OR SNOWSTORMS, INSTEAD HAVE FUN IN THEM
When I was young, the Lord enlightened me about life’s tribulations, persecutions and sufferings through rain and snowstorms and said, “Do not be afraid of rainstorms or snowstorms, instead have fun in them. In fact, go to the mountaintop to pray. If heavy rain pours down, just let it hit and soak you. How great it would be? If you want to take a shower in that high rocky cliff off of Mt. Daedun or on the peak of the Mount of Olives (Mt.Gamram), you would have to install a showerhead, but that would be impossible.”
At first, I tried to avoid rain by going under the rocks but later on, I just came out and got soaked in the rain and even took a shower under the heavy rain. When I went to go gather firewood in the mountains or to cut down grass, I used to carry soap around with me. When it rained, I washed my hair and I even scrubbed my body. It was really great. It was hot in the summer so it was a miracle to take a shower on top of a mountain. It was the biggest showerhead in the world. If it continued to rain even after I had finished taking a shower, I would even get to wash my clothes so it was really great. Because I was raised that way, it felt good to be hit by the cold rain during autumn.
Habits are powerful. The Lord said, “In this way even if you go through tribulations and suffering in your life, look for what needs to be done in the midst of those tribulations and overcome them while taking action.” When I found out what things needed to be done even in the middle of tribulations and put them to action, I could gain more than what I had lost during the tribulations. It’s the same thing even now.
When dark clouds develop; rain is likely to come; thunder and lightning strike; raindrops begin to fall, people usually get anxious about being caught in the rain and their clothes getting wet, so they quickly go indoors. Or they feel bad, saying, “It’s been a while since I was out like this but unfortunately I am caught in the rain.” Even if they went on a picnic, [if it starts to rain] they get in the car and come back home right away. By the time they arrive at home, the rain has stopped after it having only rained just a little bit. Then they’ll say, ‘Since we can’t go out again and the sky is covered with dark clouds, let’s go to sleep,’ and they just keep on sleeping. [But]in fact, the day eventually turned out to be a really good day because the weather became cool.
Things often happen in this way when tribulations and hardships come. If you just get scared from the start, you will give up and run away, and you will get used to being that way. Such people are always afraid of having any hardships that they may face in their future. Even if just a little bit of thunderstorm strikes and only a few raindrops fall in their life, they feel nervous, have all kinds of worries and are afraid. Then they give up and stop what they were trying to do.
Do not think of or be afraid of all your difficulties and worries, but leave them to the Lord. You should take action boldly just as you get rained on during the summer and you get caught in a snowstorm or cold wind in the winter time. Then you can become a strong hero of life and you will be able to complete the work that the Lord has entrusted to you in the end.
3. LIFE IS TO LIVE WITH HOPE
One day while I was writing, around the time the sun was setting, there was a tiny spider next to the window. The spider, which was much smaller than a piece of rice, built a house, but the house was too small. Something being caught there by spinning a web would be a great miracle. I thought, “There’s no way on earth anything will be caught. It wouldn’t have anything to eat by spinning webs because it’s small and weak.” “Hey, spider. No matter how I look at it, nothing is going to be caught there.”
(Spider) “What use is it if I’m idle? I have to do something. There is sticky stuff and string in my belly but what’s the use if I just have them in me? I can’t live by eating them… I have to get them out…so I built a house and will wait.” “Spider. You have the same philosophy as me.”
In this way, the Lord taught me… “What’s the use if you are idle? Shouldn’t you work? Shouldn’t you do something? What’s the use if you are idle and have a pot belly? Shouldn’t you build a house by setting out strings to the point your butthole is on fire?”
I was watching silently, “The spider built a house and then, what is being caught?” There is hope, isn’t there? It is also good when even people have hope. Therefore, it is to live with hope. I was waiting with hope. The next morning, I saw that nothing had been caught. However, something barely noticeable, like a tiny piece of tissue, was dangling around after being caught. Is the spider going to eat it after seeing it? It was not something edible but a tiny piece of tissue. Worst of all, it disappeared the next day, because the wind blew a lot. Spider webs disappeared after becoming stuck on the wall because the wind blew.
“You have to do it even if it happened that way. What’s the use if you have spider webs in your belly, whether the webs are gone or not because the wind blew? The spider lived with hope expecting something might be caught after spinning the web during that time. When it comes to life, you should live like that.” The Lord taught me.
4. THE PERSON WHO DOES GOD’S WORK DILIGENTLY IS A HIGH LEVEL PERSON
When I prayed in the mountains, the Lord told me to go around and evangelize. “How should I evangelize, since I am not a minister? Please make a license of minister through anyone and give it to me.” “You don’t need it. That is something that is done in the world and since an actual accomplishment is the best, you go around and evangelize.” So I went around and evangelized diligently. Because of that people called me “ah, Mr. minister.” “I am not a minister. I am a mere deacon.” “If someone evangelizes a lot, they are called a minister. Is there something special?”
The Lord spoke through people like this. So I came to obtain more of a sense of pride at that time. There is no special thing. If someone is good at sermon delivery, they are a pastor and if someone is good at teaching the Word, they are a lecturer. Is a minister that high level? Is a pastor that high level? They are not. I had wrong perspectives that a minister was high level and a pastor was higher level in the past. However, it turns out, it’s not that way. Anyone who works hard to do the work of God, that is the person who is high level. The Lord enlightened me about that and I achieved success by doing so.
5. THE GREAT DEDICATION IS PRAYER
One day, this kind of incident happened to me. Even though a revelation from the Lord came to me several times, “Offer Great Dedication,” I didn’t know what great dedication meant. So I chased after my mother who talked about dedication well during normal times and saw how she offered dedication. Then she went to the storeroom and brought water and bowed down offering dedication.
Later on, I realized that praying is dedication. The great dedication means not shouting aloud, it means piling up the great prayer condition like Moses and Jesus. The Lord said to me, “You must pray big prayers, then you will become a big person.” In the 1970s I used to carry out tremendous prayer conditions resolutely, like 40 and 70 day fasting prayers, until I was nothing but skin and bones. At that time I received great abilities and spiritual powers. All of you also, please pray big prayers.
6. PAINFUL SUFFERING
In 1973, this happened when I prayed at the Namhansanseong Fortress. I prayed to the Lord to please make me sick because I wanted know the world of suffering of human beings. I prayed from early evening for that, and I almost forgot what I prayed about completely because I went through suffering throughout the night.
When I woke up in the morning, severe zits appeared on my face which had such painful red spots and ached as if I had been stung by around 30 bees at once. At that moment, I realized my stupid action and I prayed again to the Lord.
“Lord, since I felt the suffering of pain now, now please heal me.” However, being healed is not easy. Even a genius does stupid things and even an idiot does the work of genius. That was it. The Holy Son Lord said, “The biggest pain of human beings is the pain of being sick and the pain of being starved.”
I wept struggled and rolled on the ground throughout the night because my entire body was sick and hungry while I prayed fasting prayer for 70 days in Kuyoungki province at Kangju. At that time, Heaven made me realize deeply to the bone that the biggest suffering of man is the pain of being sick and the pain of being starved, so that I made up my mind to live my life for those people.
Furthermore, in terms of faith, it enlightened me deeply that starving from spiritual famine, lack of words, and mental suffering from being spiritually sick is so severe.
